Environmental Technician

Main objective of the position and Tasks Description (not limited)

In direct coordination with ESHS Manager will be Responsible to make interface with local environmental authorities regarding all environmental issues

  • First be the link with all subcontractors in relation to all man power used at site to guarantee that they are all complying with local environmental regulation and Voltalia’s environmental management plans.
  • Verifying with local authorities that information gathered above is correct and company is complying.
  • In coordination with HSE Manager verifying that all environmental measures required are implemented on site.
  • Create a live data base where environmental performance indicators may be followed.
  • Report to the Project Manager & ESHS Manager overall status (audit, all measures that are being used, non-conformities, etc);
  • Ensure the collection of the environmental data needed to calculate and monitoring de Environmental KPIs;
  • Planning and accomplishment of Environmental internal Inspections / Audits;
  • Participate in the maintenance of the Environmental documentation of the project, including the legal compliance update, searching for continuous improvements of the processes;
  • Preparing and implementing training and awareness actions related with the Environment.

Position size: Site implementation of a project representing typically 10 M€ investment.

Education and Technical Skills Level (academic degree, experience, courses, habilitations, language, …)

  • Bachelor degree
  • 2 to 5 years of working experience in a relevant role preferable on construction projects (preferably in the energy sector);
  • Good knowledge of tools and techniques or project schedules/ planning (able to work with planning software);
  • Knownledge of Enviromental Management System – ISO 14001
  • Fluent in English, Swahili and KALENJIN languages (mandatory)

Required Soft Skills (autonomy level, responsibility level, accuracy, interpersonal skills, …)

  • Used to work with international, multi-cultural teams, in multiple times zones;
  • Good communication skills
  • Resilient under stressful conditions and adverse environmental
  • Creative problem solving for critical projects/ on site crisis situations;
  • Very good planning skills

Social Technician

  • Location Nairobi
  • Job Field Engineering / Technical

Main objective of the position and Tasks Description (not limited)

  • First be the link with all subcontractors in relation to all man power used at site to guarantee that they are all complying with local social regulation and Voltalia’s social management plans.
  • Verifying with local authorities that information gathered above is correct and company is complying.
  • In coordination with HSE Manager verifying that all social measures required are implemented on site.
  • Create a live data base where social performance indicators may be followed.
  • Report to the Project Manager & ESHS Manager overall status (audit, all measures that are being used, non-conformities, etc);
