INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT – ADILT
WEEKEND COURSE (SATURDAY)
Course Background
The Advanced Diploma gives strategic management, leadership and decision-making skills to enable senior managers and leaders aspire to the highest level of logistics, supply chain and transport management. After completion, participants are expected to become familiar with strategic and analytical concepts and research methodologies and use them in their day to day management role.
It is the final level of the CILT international professional programmes, and builds on the Certificate and Diploma foundations.
 
Objectives
At the end of the course, it is expected that participants will be able to:

  • Use the skills and knowledge acquired to succeed in one of the most important enjoyable and financially rewarding sections of the economy.
  • Play a key role in the oil and gas economy emerging in the country
  • Qualify to be considered for election or upgrade to the Chartered Member Grade (CMILT)
  • Participate in all activities of the CILT’ both local and international.

  • Be ushered into a wide array of logistics, supply chain and transport professionals for invaluable networking and career continuing professional development.

Course Duration
It is a trimester programme with an average of sixteen (16) weeks per semester, with the last semester used for project work.
 
Course Content
To achieve success at the CILT Advanced Diploma qualification, student must complete five mandatory units as follows:

  • ADIP-01 Strategic Contexts
  • ADIP-02 Leadership and Strategic Management
  • ADIP-03 Strategic Networking Planning
  • ADIP-04 Delivery Strategic Performance
  • ADIP-05 Research Methods and professional project

Target Group
This course is designed for middle level managers and senior supervisors working in the field of logistics, supply chain and transport, freight forwarders, personnel in supply and transport in the armed forces, police, fire service and CEPS. The others are warehousing and store managers, airline workers, shipping company workers and other professionals who want to pursue a career in logistics operations and management.
Teaching Methodology
Teaching will consist of classroom contact lectures, case studies, video shows, field trips, group research and presentations, seminars, practitioners’ fora, among others.
Entry Requirements
Entry qualifications shall be as follows:

  • International Diploma in Logistics and Transport of the chartered institute of logistics and transport.
  • Degree/Masters in logistics, supply chain, transport or closely related discipline with any accredited institution.

Course Fees
The course fee for the programme is GHȻ 4,600.00 for Ghanaian and GHȻ 4,800.00 for non-Ghanaians.
Accreditation
The chartered institute of Logistics and Transport International hold the charter for its international programmes since 1926; recognized by the UK National Qualifications Framework 9LEVEL SIX0, which places the programme at the equivalent level of an academic degree. CILT International has been in partnership with TPOLY to run its international programmes in Ghana since 2010.
The National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana provides valuation of the advanced certificate as equivalent to the university degree.
 
Venue
Lectures will be held on the TPOLY Main campus, Takoradi.
Faculty
The programme is facilitated by experienced TPOLY and CILT faculty (full time and adjunct), as well as visiting industry experts.
Course Delivery Structure
The mode of course delivery will be on part-time basis. Lectures would be held Weekends (Saturdays).

General Objectives
The course aim at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to manage Transport and Logistics and supply chain Operations of their organizations
Specific Objectives:
At the end of the course the participants will be able to:

  • Professionally manage inventories and warehouse operations
  • Evaluate financing options for transport acquisition and operations
  • Undertake a strategic review of the logistics and transport environment
  • Analyze logistics and supply chain processes for competitive advantage
  • Apply the principles of managing passenger transport operations across all modes to the Ghanaian environment
  • Appreciate the impact of global supply chains on local logistics and transport operations.

Target Group:
This course is designed for people who are already working in the transport sector as Middle Level Managers or senior supervisors and who wish to develop a strategic view of the industry and their corporate operations for organizational competitiveness.
Entry Requirements:

  • Possession of the International certificate in logistics and Transport (CILT) certificate
  • Possession of a university degree and/or HND (or equivalent) coupled with relevant areas of study. This category of applicants must have been granted exemptions at the certificate level
  • In addition, participants must have worked in the logistics and transport environment for a minimum of three years
  • The selection panel may call for an interview of any applicant before granting admission where it is necessary

Course Fees
The course fee for the programme is GHȻ 3,700.00 for Ghanaian and GHȻ 3,900.00 for non-Ghanaians.

General Entry Requirements for Certificate

SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants
Passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and three relevant elective subjects. The aggregate score of the six subjects mentioned above must be Twenty-Four (24) (SSSCE scale) or Thirty-Six (36) (WASSCE scale) or better.
GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Applicants
Applicants must have five (5) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes in English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject plus two (2) passes in relevant subjects and/or three (3) ‘A’ Level passes.
Other Professional Programmes
Any other relevant professional or academic certificate from accredited institution

Duration:

The duration of the Certificate course is approximately six months, comprising course work, revision, field trip, assignments and examinations.

Target Group

The course is designed for first line managers (Supervisors) in the Logistics and Transport, Freight Forwarders, Personnel in Supply and Transport in the Armed Forces, Police, Fire Service, Prisons and Custom. The others are Warehousing and Stores Managers, Airline workers, Shipping and Port Workers and other professionals who want to pursue a career in logistics and transport operations and management.

Course Fees
The course fee for the programme is GHȻ 2, 800.00 for Ghanaian and GHȻ 3,000.00 for non-Ghanaians.
