The Authority of University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has publicized the Entry Requirement AKA Admission Requirement for prospective candidates that seek admission into the institution for the 2018/2019 academic year.
These requirements are for various programmes offered in the institution, it serves as a guide in the application process. All interested applicants are to read through carefully making sure that they fulfil the requirements before putting in an application.

University of Energy and Natural Resources Admission Requirements

These are the basic requirements to be satisfied to qualify for admission into the University. They are to be met together with other programme-specific requirements.
Admission is open to:
(a)        A Four Year Degree Programme   

  1. SSSCE holders with credit passes (A-D) in English LanguageMathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus credit passes (A-D) in Three Elective subjects relevant to the programme of study with an aggregate score of 24 or better.
  2. WASSCE holders with credit passes (A1-C6in English LanguageMathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus credit passes (A1-C6in Three Elective subjects relevant to the programme of study with an aggregate score of 36 or better.
  3. ADVANCED LEVEL holders with credit in at least Five (5) subjects at the GCE ‘O’ Level (or its equivalent) including English and Mathematics, plus at least two passes in the subjects relevant to the programme of study.
  4. HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA HOLDERS in a related course with at least 2nd Class Lower Division. In addition, applicants must have acquired at least Two (2) years post HND working experience.
  5. UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA HOLDERS in a related course with at least a In addition applicants must have acquired at least Two (2) years post Diploma working experience.
  6. MATURE STUDENTS. The applicant must have attained at least, the age of 25 years at the time of application, and show proof of the age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of the date of birth which must be confirmed on the WASSCE Certificate (if applicant is WASSCE holder). In addition, applicants must pass a Mature Applicants’ Entrance Examination conducted by the University in English Language, Mathematics and Aptitude Test. (The Entrance Examination would be held on Saturday, August 04, 2018.)
  7. FOREIGN APPLICANTS who have any of the above qualifications or their equivalences from an accredited/recognized institution.
  8. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Other qualifications acceptable for consideration include International Baccalaureate (IB), IGCSE, American Grade 13 Examinations and other external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE/SSSCE and the GCE (A Levels).
 
(b)     A Two Year Diploma Programme

  1. SSSCE holders with passes (A-E) in all subjects, including English LanguageMathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus 3 passes (A-E) in Three Elective subjects relevant to the programme of study.
  2. WASSCE holders with passes (A1-E8in English LanguageMathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus passes (A1-E8in Three Elective subjects relevant to the programme of study.

Candidates with Science, Business, General Arts, Visual Art, Home Economics and General Agriculture background can apply for the BSc Hospitality Management and BSc Entrepreneurship and Resource Management programmes.  

UENR Entry Requirements

Admission is open to:

i. SSSCE holders with credit passes (A-D) in English LanguageMathematics and Integrated Science plus credit passes (A-D) in Three Elective subjects relevant to the programme of study with an aggregate score of 24 or better.

The applicant must have attained the age of 25 years by September 1, 2014, and show proof of the age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of the date of birth. In addition, applicants should have at least credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in SSSCE/WASSCE or any other nationally recognized standard High School level examinations. In lieu of such qualification, applicants must pass a

Mature Students’ Entrance Examination conducted by the University in English Language, Mathematics and Aptitude Test.

vii. FOREIGN APPLICANTS and all others who have any of the above qualifications or their equivalences from an accredited/recognized institution.

UENR Admission Requirements

Social Forestry and Environmental Governance – Admission Requirements

  1. Masters Programme: To be eligible for admission into the Masters of Philosophy Research Degree programme, candidates must be graduates of this University or any other recognized University and shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field (eg. natural resources, planning, social science, human geography & Agriculture).
  2. Doctoral Programme: To be eligible for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy degree programme, a student must have obtained a Master’s degree from this University or its equivalent from any other recognized University. Exceptional Second year M.Phil students with GPA above 3.65 may be upgraded into the Ph.D programme upon recommendation from the supervisor and Departmental Board.

Computer Science – ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The criteria for admission into the MSc./M.Phil. in Computer Science programme would be as follows, provided all the conditions below are satisfied:

  1. Candidate must have a BSc. degree in Computer Sciences, or any related discipline from an accredited University with a minimum of Second Class Honors (Lower Division).
  2. Candidate must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity for independent work, maturity, effective decision making and problem-solving potentials.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The criteria for admission into the PhD in Computer Science programme would be as follows, provided all the conditions below are satisfied:

  1. Candidate must have a BSc. degree in Computer Sciences or any related discipline from an accredited University with a minimum of Second Class Honors (Lower Division).
  2. Candidate must have an MPhil in Computer Science or its equivalent from an accredited University.
  3. Candidate must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity for independent work, maturity, effective decision making and problem-solving potentials.

Applied Mathematics – ADMISSION AND SELECTION
The admission and selection process shall reflect the academic rigor and preparation needed for this programme. Meeting the minimum qualifications for this programme does not guarantee admission. Candidates are encouraged to achieve well beyond the minimum qualifications to enhance their chances for selection. The Computer Science and Informatics Department at UENR uses a holistic approach in selecting candidates for admission. Applicants are thoroughly reviewed to determine the full spectrum of their academic and personal achievements through examination and/or interview.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission into the Master of Philosophy Degree programme, candidates must be graduates of this University or any other University recognized by Academic Board and shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field (eg. Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering etc).

The Mathematics and Statistics Department at UENR uses a holistic approach in selecting candidates for admission. Applicants are thoroughly reviewed to determine the full spectrum of their academic and personal achievements through examination and/or interview.
Crop Science – (Admission Requirements)
Eligible candidates for admission should normally be holders of a B.Sc. degree in Agriculture and/or Biological Science with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division or its equivalent in relevant disciplines from recognized Universities. Applicants will be shortlisted and interviewed for admission. M.Sc. holders who would want to upgrade themselves may also be considered for the M.Phil. programme.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in (Crop Science)
Duration of the Program.
This modular programme is for four years on a full-time basis. Part-time students can take five-seven years to complete the course. The part-time programme offers greater flexibility for those with demanding commitments at home or work. The normal duration is not less than six semesters after initial registration (or nine semesters in the case of part-time registration). The registration of a candidate shall normally lapse if he has not submitted his thesis for examination after ten-semesters of full-time (twelve semesters in the case of part-time registration or an equivalent period pro-rata for an examination of part-time and full-time registration.
Eligibility (Admission Requirements)
Eligible candidates for admission should normally be holders of M.Phil. degree in Agriculture and/or Biological Science equivalent in relevant disciplines from recognized Universities. Applicants will be shortlisted and interviewed for admission. The minimum requirement for a PhD programme should be an M.Phil. or its equivalent from a recognised University.
–ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT –
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for admission into the MSc/MPhil in Environmental Planning and Development programme, candidates must be graduates of this University or any other University recognised by Academic Board and shall normally have obtained a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in the relevant field (eg. environmental planning, planning, development studies, environmental studies, geography, economics, natural resources management etc). In both instances, candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year post qualification working experience and will be required to go through an interview process.
