The Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) is on a man-hunt for the fugitive fake lecturer after the Auditor-General indicted management of the Koforidua Technical University for employing a lecturer with fake certificates.
Richmond Kweku Frempong, who was engaged in 2006, according to the report, rose through the ranks to become Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management and drew a total salary of GHS201,065.92.
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Ho, Vice Chancellor for the University, Prof Mrs Smile Dzisi, said the dismissed lecturer has been referred to the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO).
“It’s a big lesson the institution has learnt and we’ve put all the necessary measures in place to avoid such blunder,” Prof. Dzisi added as she assured the committee that such a mistake will not be repeated.
PAC, through its zonal sittings in Ho, facilitated by GIZ and USAID, is considering institutions from the Eastern and Volta regions.
